SUNDAY MARKET Linen Building Sunday Market to recognize Prostate Health Month Sept. 20 A portion of proceeds from the September market will benefit Us TOO, an international prostate cancer awareness group There's always something new at the Linen Building Sunday Market, and the September market is no exception. In addition to welcoming new Creators, the indoor market will turn its attention to a global cause - prostate cancer awareness. A proclamation from Boise Mayor Dave Bieter in recognition of National Prostate Health Month will be read during the market, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Linen Building, 1402 W. Grove St. in Downtown Boise's Linen District. [NOTE: Mayor Bieter will not be in attendance; the proclamation will be read by a Sunday Market Creator.] Additionally, a portion of September market proceeds will benefit Us TOO (ustoo.org), an international nonprofit organization dedicated to communicating timely and reliable information enabling informed choices regarding detection and treatment of prostate cancer. "Prostate cancer is not a comfortable subject, but it's an important one to address," said Sunday Marker Creator/Linen Building Owner David Hale. "By recognizing Prostate Health Month and contributing to the cause, we're hoping to educate the public and raise awareness of this deadly disease." Every third Sunday of the month, the Linen Building Sunday Market showcases two dozen Creators offering locally-made arts and crafts, jewelry, clothing, food and drink. After perusing the wares, cool off with a cold beer or refreshing mimosa from Jenny's Lunch Line and Metro Gourmet Catering Company. Enjoy freshly-squeezed juice, artisanal sandwiches, fresh fruit salad, homemade quiches and sweets, all made with local, organic ingredients. For more info, visit jennyslunchline.com and metrogourmetboise.com. Live music will be provided by singer-songwriter Nancy Kelly. Kelly's music is layered with piano folk, subtle jazz whispers and haunting classical surprises. She sings her own songs, accompanying herself with piano or dulcimer. Visit nancykellymusic.com for more info. A portion of Sunday Market proceeds are donated back to the community each month. Past recipients include the Idaho Foodbank, Boise Rescue Mission, Women's and Children's Alliance of Boise and Treasure Valley Institute for Children's Arts (TrICA).
