VINYL PRESERVATION SOCIETY OF IDAHO drops the needle on
VPS CLUB NIGHT
Friday, March 26,
at THE LINEN BUILDING

VPS DJs PEDRO and TONY B will spin funk, soul, hip-hop and electronic grooves ALL ON VINYL ALL NIGHT LONG

The Vinyl Preservation Society of Idaho will host VPS Club Night, an all-vinyl dance party, at 8 p.m. Friday, March 26, at the Linen Building,1402 W. Grove St. in downtown Boise's Linen District. This special VPS Idaho event is open to the public. Admission is $2 for Vinyl Preservation Society members and $3 for non-members. Non-members can get in for $2 if they come with a Vinyl Preservation Society member. All ages, full bar (ID required).

While most music listeners and DJs have abandoned vinyl for the convenience (and poorer sound quality) of CDs and MP3s, the Vinyl Preservation Society of Idaho gets together each month at the Modern Hotel and Bar to celebrate the vinyl format and spin real, hold-'em-in-your-hands records.

Modeled after VPS Idaho's anniversary parties, VPS Club Night will follow suit: DJs will spin warm funk, soul, hip-hop and electronic grooves all on vinyl all night long in the second-floor, loft-style Gallery at the Linen Building. With the vinyl records, private-party vibe and well-stocked bar, it's safe to say VPS Club Night is a unique event that other clubs in Boise would be hard-pressed to replicate.

DJs scheduled to spin at VPS Club Night are downtown veterans and avid crate-diggers Pedro and Tony B.

A Ventura, California, native and child of the '80s, Pedro started spinning at b-boy summits at 14 and soon moved on to private parties and music festivals. Delivering a smooth, high-energy mix of electronica, house, nu-jazz and world lounge, Pedro's passion for music deepens with each passing year and his modus operandi has always been to share his infectious beats with others. DJ Tony B has been spinning religiously for the past 3 1/2 years. After hearing and seeing master turntablist Art Hodge spin, Tony B was inspired to bring his own unique ear and deep vinyl collection to Boise clubs, spinning a floor-filling mix of funk, soul and old-school hip-hop rarely heard on the local DJ scene.

ABOUT THE VINYL PRESERVATION SOCIETY: The Vinyl Preservation Society (VPS) is an independent social recreation enterprise dedicated to communal listening enjoyment with chapters in Boise, Idaho, and New York City. The Idaho chapter meets every fourth Wednesday of the month at the Modern Hotel and Bar in Downtown Boise's Linen District.

VPS has three main charters: preservation, education and entertainment. By actively promoting the preservation of the vinyl record as a medium, VPS hopes to play a small part in ensuring the enduring presence and future vitality of this unique and culturally rich musical format. In its educational efforts, VPS hopes to increase the knowledge of group members as well as the general public in all matters related to analog musicology, from record production techniques and the performance and maintenance of associated electronics to the history of vinyl. In pursuing its entertainment goals, VPS simply hopes to help existing vinyl aficionados discover and enjoy more music while cultivating a wider community of new listeners; in short, to keep the records spinning and the music alive.

Monthly meetings include guest speakers and DJs, opportunities to buy, sell and trade vinyl and, of course, a chance to share some of your favorite albums with fellow music geeks and vinyl junkies. Membership is free and open to anyone who listens to music of any kind. While members and guests don't have to own any vinyl, it is assumed they at least have an interest in and appreciation for vinyl as ONLY VINYL RECORDS WILL BE PLAYED AT MEETINGS.
