The Recycled Art Show will kick off with a First Thursday artist reception (5 to 9 p.m.), giving art and recycling connoisseurs the opportunity to meet all of Boise's best artists creating pieces for this year's art show and place opening bids in the silent auction. All of this year's 50-plus artists have created artwork from at least 75 percent recycled materials and have donated it to the silent auction, which is raising funds for SHIP, Inc. and the Second Chance Building Materials Center - transforming the lives of people in recovery by providing supportive sober housing, recovery support services, work training and Green Job opportunities. Some of the artists have selected mahogany doors (donated to Second Chance from the Capitol renovation) from which to create their art. Live music will be provided by singer-songwriter Greg Bridges. Bridges is the singer and guitarist for the jammy Southern rock/country blues sextet Garden City Limits. Learn more about this native Tennessean and hear his music at myspace.com/gregbridges.
